Whisky maturation and blending are both science and art. Much of the first can be understood, measured and explained; the second belongs to judgement, instinct and experience - the point at which craftsmanship begins to approach alchemy.

THE PORTUGUESE is a small-batch vintage whisky, bottled according to readiness rather than age alone. In keeping with the VENAKKI tradition, each release is drawn from hand-selected casks within our Private Heritage Reserve - casks that previously held fine wines - and brought together only when the individual components have reached the balance, depth and character we seek.

The result is an expression shaped by terroir, wood, time and the art of blending: a whisky of depth and complexity, yet remarkable approachability, conceived to reward the seasoned drinker while remaining open and compelling to those discovering fine whisky for the first time.
